Russian-Turkish trade
and economic cooperation has been rapidly developing over the last
years. In the total volume of Russia commodity turnover Turkey ranks
the 14th. Russia ranks the second in import and the eighth in export
of Turkey.
One
of the main directions of Russian-Turkish bilateral relations is interregional
cooperation between constituent entities of Russian Federation and
Turkish vilayets (provinces).
Turkey
expresses great interest to cooperation with constituent entities
of the South of Russia, and specifically, with Krasnodar Region, being
over the last years one of the main permanent foreign trade partners
of Krasnodar Region.
In
2004 foreign trade turnover of Krasnodar Region with Turkey
totaled USD 361.5 million. The export surplus is positive (USD 35.5
million). Turkey was the main importer of ferrous scrap metal. The
worth of export operations constituted USD 198.4 million. Cereals
(bread grains), sugar and sugar confectionery, fertilizers, timber
and timber goods, ferrous metals and equipment formed the basis of
export. The worth of import operations totaled USD 162.9 million.
The
region imported from Turkey fruits and nuts, chocolate and other foodstuffs,
containing cocoa, cotton fabric, equipment, furniture, toys, games
and sports equipment.
Foreign
trade turnover of Krasnodar Region with Turkey in 2005
totaled USD 644.64 million, almost doubling similar indices of the
last year. By volume of trade with our region Turkey ranks the first.
The export surplus is positive (USD 38.9 million).
The
worth of export operations constituted USD 341.76 million. Iron-and-steel
scrap and metal rejects (USD 147.55 million), oil and oil products
(USD 127.22 million), unprocessed timber (USD 40.53 million), mineral
or chemical fertilizers (USD 11.52 million), sunflower oil (USD 3.97
million) formed the basis of export.
The
worth of import operations totaled USD 302.87 million. The region
imported from Turkey foodstuffs (USD 170.23 million), mineral and
chemical products (USD 29.41 million), textile (USD 10.4 million).
Foreign
trade turnover of Krasnodar region with Turkey over 6 months
of 2006 totaled USD 397.55 million. By volume of trade with
the region Turkey stably ranks the first. The export surplus is positive
(USD 59.33 million).
The
region realized export operations for amount of USD 228.44 million.
Oil and oil products (USD 119.35 million), iron-and-steel waste and
metal rejects (USD 62.75 million), unprocessed timber (USD 29.34 million),
mineral and chemical fertilizers (USD 4.74 million) formed the basis
of export.
The
worth of import operations is USD 169.11 million. Foodstuffs (USD
108.02 million), mineral and chemical products (USD 16.29 million),
and textile (USD 5.31 million) were imported from Turkey.
About
50 Russian-Turkish enterprises in various spheres have been registered
and operate on the territory of Krasnodar Region: manufacturing of
industrial and agricultural products, production, purchasing, export
and import of foodstuffs, drinks, production and sales of consumer
goods, production and technical purpose, transportation, tourist services,
restoration and construction of hotel, social, cultural-household
and service facilities, manufacturing of construction materials, wood-processing,
manufacturing of woodwork.
